PE in the extreme

In one fell swoop today we covered off PE for the next week. On what is undoubtedly the hottest weekend of the year we cycled all 26 miles around Rutland Water. It was hot but fun. Sam was on his tag a long so he worked as hard as we did. It was nice to be out in the sunshine, if only the whole trail was off road. It is absurd that 4 miles of it is along road, and without the benefit of a special bike lane. I am a nervous rider as it is without having to worry about cars. It took us about 2.5 hours to go round and we all headed for the shower when we got back!! Spend the rest of the day pottering, M and Sam washed the car and then we fired up the bbq. M loves his new bbq, a huge thank you to my in laws.

Orlando had his first feed this weekend. His food didn't freak me out as much as I expected but I still couldn't bring myself to touch it. He ate it quite happily so he must be settling in. He is lots of fun to watch and we can't wait until he gets a bit bigger so we can handle him more.

Spent all day yesterday working in the garden. We now have lots of new fruit tress and herbs so hope we don't get a hosepipe ban up here. The cats love the garden and are out all day. It is so nice to have the space and to be able to leave the doors open all day.

Friday Sam and I did a session on the 4th of July for our home ed group. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, especially the softball game. We talked a little bit about the history of the 4th and then the children did a variety of craft activities. We finished off the session with a flag relay race and a softball game. Thank you to everyone who came and helped to make the session fun.

Sounds like you guys had a nice bike ride around the lake. Glad you have a garden, hope to see it one day. Take care and hugs for Sam.
