sunshine at last

what a glorious day, shame we spent most of it running around doing jobs. We did manage to get back in the afternoon and the garden really came into its own. sam spent ages in the sand box creating a dino excavation site for his playmobil people while I was a very lazy mom and sat and read the paper in the sunshine. Even the cats were out enjoying the nice weather. Marquesa couldn't understand why the birds did not want to be friends with her!

Sam picked out a few lego toys and knex for the plane with money very kindly sent by M's aunt. He has been very good about saving them until the day, though he complained bitterly about it to the tesco's lady and to M's aunt when he phoned to thank her. I have squirrled them into his carry on so hopefully out of site out of mind. One of my overwhelming memories of childhood holidays was the excitement of picking out books and toys for the trip. Mom and I would go to the bookstore on base and I would be allowed to choose a few titles for the trip. Waiting to read them was so hard and once or twice when I read them before the trip I was so disapointed because I then had nothing new for the long drive or plane trip. Sam is equally excited about his books and toys and hopefully they will keep him amused for 11 hours as the movies on board look dire.

We have had a good week, most of our friends from pborough have been over for a visit so we haven't done much formal work. Instead we have both had a ball catching up with friends. In fact sam was so disapointed when I reminded him that no one would be coming over to play today that I had to remind him that we would be seeing lots of friends over the weekend.

M's family is coming for a bbq tomorrow (fingers crossed for nice weather) and we are going to my goddaughter's christening on sunday. There will be lots of children at both events so hopefully he will be so tuckered out that he will have a nice long sleep on the plane!

Hope you have a really good flight and hopefully Sam has enough to entertain himself. Say HI to the Dollings and see you on Tuesday.

Enjoy the next couple of days and have a safe fun-filled trip. Saw DaVinci Code last nite...not as disappointing as I had feared. Cant wait to hear details of the trip.
