Now S is almost 4 and we have a vague idea of how we are going to home-ed it is easier to tell people about our decision. It seems as if everyone we meet these days wants to know when he is going to start school. Last month when a shop assistant asked him when he was going sam replied that he wasn't as he was house trained! I got a very funny look from the assistant until I explained what he meant.
As we are winding down to our holiday we have done few sit down activities. Both of us having stinking colds and sore throats hasn't helped either. He pulled a bunch of dino books off the shelf and we looked through those. we have aslo done lots of counting albeit of trains. thanks to a visit from his great nan & great aunt today sam now has more rolling stock than gner! between hot wheels and trains you can definately tell that a little boy lives here!

A quiet few days
We have not accomplished tons, educationally, the last two days as sam still is feeling very under the weather. We have read lots of stories, played trains and hot wheels and webland for most of the day. He really is feeling very grotty, though it is amazing how he perks up a short while after having calpol. I only wish it would have the same effect on adults!
We had a very disturbed night last night, sam was up most of it coughing. Matthew was fantastic and got up with him at 2 am to play and have a bowl of cereal. They let me sleep which was nice of them. M is now very snuffly so I think we may all take to our beds tomorrow and spend the day watching movies.

I finally did it
I have finally done it, I have ordered the kindergarten curriculum from Sonlight. I am so excited, I can't wait to see it when we get to dad's. I ordered the science and math as a well as a few phonics workbooks. the rest of the core I a managed to get second hand. Deciding how to homeschool Sam has been a big decision for us and I think we have found something that will work for all of us. I wasn't sure about Pre K or K but in the end went for the K. I just hope I have made the right decision. We can always do it over 2 years if it seems a bit advanced for him.
Today was a nice day, sort of. We went with friends to the local working farm and Sam had a blast. Unfortunately his cold got much worse as the day went on as did his conjunctiveitus. Luckily we had an appointment at the local drop in centre and we now have new drops which should help. We spent the afternoon reading stories and watching dvds. Will try and have a quiet day tomorrow, we want him better by the time we go on holiday.

A quick introduction
I suppose I had better introduce us. I am a SAHM with one fanastic ds, Sam who is almost 4. My husband, Matthew is a very hard working anaesthetist. We live in the UK but I am an american. I have been over here 12 years now and although I do miss the US I love living in the UK. We have decided for a variety of reasons to home educate Sam which promises to be an exciting adventure for all of us. He is a very lively little boy who is into typical boy things-trains, cars, dinos etc.
I love being at home with him, every day is a new adventure. I do my best to keep the household running on an even keel, though I don't do as much housework as I should. I also sell Usborne books and do mystery shopping to give sam and I a little extra spending money. In my pre sam life I was marketing manager for a guidebook publisher, though I orginally trained as an archaeologist.
We have 3 cats and too many fish to count.

First Post
I have decided to start blogging to document our experiences as a home edding family. I have been reading other people's bloggs for a while now and enjoy them so much that I decided to start my own. I will do my best to blogg regularly but can't promise anything.
